5th Annual Pure Mendocino® Organic Food and Wine Tasting Will Showcase Regional Bounty

Plans are underway now for the 5th Annual Pure Mendocino Organic Food and Wine Tasting the weekend of August 29-30, 2009!

On Saturday, August 22, 2008, Mendocino County chefs, organic wineries, and purveyors of organic and wild-crafted foods gathered on the vineyard patio of Parducci Wine Cellars for the Pure Mendocino Organic Food and Wine Tasting. The 2008 event was a great success, with record attendance of over 175 people. winetasting

Centerpiece event of the Annual Pure Mendocino Celebration, the 2008 Organic Food & Wine Tasting showcased sustainable food and wines from each of Mendocino County’s diverse growing regions.  The evening included a cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, and a silent auction featured locally produced organic wines and one-of-a-kind indulgences.

In 2008 participating vendors hailed from throughout Mendocino County.  Coastal participants included certified organic Elk Creamery, Ocean Harvest Sea Vegetables, Thanksgiving Coffee, and award-winning Ravens’ vegetarian restaurant.  The Philo Apple Farm and Handley Cellars represented the cool Anderson Valley corridor.  Inland vendors included Patrona Bistro and Wine Bar from Ukiah, Potter Valley’s certified organic McFadden Farm and Vineyard, and fresh-from-the-farm Covelo Organics

Tim Bates at winetasting2008 Event host, Parducci Wine Cellars, participated in the Pure Mendocino Celebration since its inception five years ago.  Owned in partnership by the grape-growing families of Tim and Tom Thornhill and Paul Dolan, Parducci is one of Mendocino County’s oldest wineries and the nation’s first carbon-neutral winery.  "We encourage others to join us in our strong support of Pure Mendocino and the Cancer Resource Centers," said partner, Tim Thornhill, "The food and wine will be great and it's for a great cause, too."
